Grouper Video- Competition Heats Up

Oh this is saucy. It's a video spoof of the online video competition. Revver takes one in the head. Ouch.

Here's the video. I tried the framed version but it was buggy when you play it.

We see Google Video, YouTube, Revver, iFilm and a few others... all getting their ass whooped by Grouper. Here's a user forum on this service- I'm not seeing what differentiates Grouper yet, but post away if you see something I missed.

Nice concept, but the video doesn't play well on your blog. The herkey jerkey play reminds me of dialup.

Here's grouper's published policy on sharing your info:

Your Profile, Media, and Friends

We reserve the right to make all of the following information about you available to all other users of the Service: (a) any information you choose to include in your Service profile (including, without limitation, your first name, last name, nickname, age, gender, astrological sign, occupation, availability, self-description, IM handles, favorite links, and where you live); (b) any videos or other personal media content you submit to us; (c) your Grouper user name and friends; (d) the groups to which you belong; and (e) the date you registered to become a member of, and last logged into, the Service.

I don't know about you but I don't want other groupers knowing what I look like, my availability AND where I live.

Also from their service agreement:

You grant to Grouper and Grouper’s affiliates, representatives, and assigns an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, fully-paid, world-wide, royalty-free license, with the right to grant sublicenses through multiple tiers of sublicensees, to publicly display, publicly perform, distribute, store, transcode, syndicate, broadcast, reproduce, edit, modify, create derivative works, and otherwise use and reuse your Submissions (or any portions or derivative works thereof) in any manner, in any medium, for any purpose. Grouper reserves the right to display advertisements in connection with your Submissions and to use your Submissions for advertising and promotional purposes.

This sounds to me like another free ride video service where we do all the work and get nothing in return.

Another case of corporate America exploiting the working man while sucking on the tit of corporate welfare. Grouper is but one of the new Andrew Carnegies. Nationalize the upload sites!
