The Revver Forum Heats Up

I've been having fun reading the Revver forum, but since I forgot my password I haven't been able to jump in. Interesting that the Forum has become rather hostile. Mostly frustrations with copyright approval, communication by Revver and payments.

I frankly haven't been active in many forums, so I don't know if they tend to generate activity by critics or if Revver is facing legitimate pressure from frustrated users.

In any event, I'm hoping Revver works all of this out. Since there are very few popular alternatives to Revver, our near-term success (making money on videos) is dependent on Revver addressing some of the concerns raised.

Interestingly, Revver does have a PR firm on retainer, but I think the technical folks have been the primary spokespeople addressing a lot of these concerns.

Nalts, I'm reading the forum too. I want it to be a positive place where people can swap tips, learn about the biz, and get excited about Revver and the opportunity we have there. Probably they should have one section called "Beefs" or something like that or rants or problems where people can get that out and get their problems solved.

This is what I've liked about Revverberation. But that's because you pretty much drive what happens here. I think they really need a positive person to resolve people's problems clearly. As you and I both know, I've e-mailed back and forth with several Revver workers, and found them to be really great people. I just think there are some reasonable rough spots that need to be ironed out. I can also understand where the complaints about copyrights and "where's the money?" come from.

Anyway, I'm hoping for the best. I think Revver's a win for everybody in the long run.

(find your password soon, you are sorely missed in the forum.)

Yeah, that's The Final Solution, let's round up the schwachsinnig malcontents and put them in one place, da drin ist masenhaft platz, you know, like, for their own protection and so we good Germans don't have to listen to the unsettling voice of verlogener dissent. You know YouTube has it right. They offer a feature where you can tag screen names of people you don't like and block them from commenting on your stuff. That could easily be extended to blocking their videos from being seen on one's monitor . . .

Okay, okay, I'm sorry. Maybe kristelknockt is a little over the top and rounding up negative nellies into a Polish ghetto is a bad analogy (how do you get electronic uploaders to voluntarily wear armbands anyway?) but I am always a little unsettled by ideas which involve separating out the cheerleaders from the disgruntled.

I find the forum very entertaining: emotional, human bitching and wailing intersperced every four or five days by the Revver techs' Zylon / HAL2000/ Robbie-The-Robot-like "That does not compute. That does not happen. You are in error. Error Error. Sorry, Dave, I cannot do that. What are you doing, Dave? Daisey, Daisey." responses.

So what's with the 4-5 day delay in Revver tech responses? Are they orbiting around the moon and can't transmit while on the dark side of the moon?

Hahaha! You forgot "Danger! Danger! Danger, Will Robbins: By Revver TOS, you can be terminated at any time at our discretion without explanation!" (Robbie The Robot)

THAT'LL put a damper on too much grousing!

Forums are by nature evil places: The soapboxes for ignorant 14-year-olds and twisted 65-year-old pedophiles and/or the Religious Right. That's why this one is such a breath of fresh air.
No strum und drang here...just a good exchange of info. amongst polite people. It's called civilization.

I am sorry that you uploaders are confused. And if you aren't confused, you're guilty of slander! Revver also has the right to refuse or remove from the site any video or revoke any membership that it wishes, at any time. When members signed up they agreed that they understood these terms and would COMPLY. This agreement can be found in the Terms of Use. Didn't you read it? Don't you understand English?

You must comply! We are a tight knit family here at Revver and do not wish to be upset by outside slanderers or uploaders.

Hundreds of thousands of Americans were cold-bloodedly exterminated in the name of manifest destiny and 'civilization'. It was a European's patriotic duty to kill an Indian to make this country safe for polite society. So let's all try to be polite, can we?

Smooth how you linked pedophiles to the religious right. No sturm und drang bias there!

What's all the hubub, bub? Just terminate Frogprints and Margusdejolie's Revver membership and let's get back to Happy Days.

Hey! Whoa! I've already been properly chastized! I give up. I promise to kill any buffalo I run across....politely.

Resistance is futile. You will be absorbed. Or TOSsed out if too spicy or undigestible.

Why would anyone want to terminate Frogprintz and Marquisdejolie's stuff?

Plus, what's TOS?

Aquadad- I don't think that comment was about the content of Frogprintz and Marquisdejolie(which is inarguably great). It was because they've been critics of Revver's copyright policies, account payout timing and customer service.

I don't have a problem with Revver's copyright policy. It's not a PROBLEM to ignore Revver like I feel they ignored me. What I had was a gripe about the inconsistent APPLICATION of that policy. It FEELS like whether or not a submitted video is accepted or rejected depends more on the personality and mood of the reviewer than on any set-in-stone policy. Or so it appears to me. My opinion. Don't get upset.

To be fair to Revver, they couldn't have foreseen their accounting problems. It's not like there's a consistent, scheduled payout date or anything. I was kinda teasing them on their forum until I saw how peeved they got. I got paid and was thrilled to be able to buy my momma the washing machine.

But guys, I'm not some bum begging for a handout here (elsewhere, on my jamesjarvis.net website maybe, but not here). I worked very, very hard for that washing machine money and you Revver folk made money off my work, too, you know.

And I don't expect an internet site in beta stage to have consistent customer service, either. The technical side of Revver is great, even if that, too, produces inconsistent results in ratings, view counting, uploadability, thumbnail viewing, availability snags, etc, etc. Sure, you're no well-oiled machine, far from it, but you'll figure it out eventually. I have faith in you.

AAAAAaaaaaahhhhh haaaaaaaa haaaaaa haaaaa!!!! You're the best left-handed compliment slinger I ever saw! Your 'faith' in those techno-goofs speech is like a fella telling a girl she's ugly but he still wants in her pants.

Hahahahahahaha! NOW I get some of your strange videos.

Forsooth! Me detects inconsistency in these comments too. Critics, supporters, observers ... what? Make up your mind and choose a side. Pass out the ammo and take a swig from your flask. The moon is full tonight and the sheep are restless.

Frogprintz and Marquisjolie are the only only true commentators. Not only is their work GREAT, but their witticism keeps us coming back for more. Clever, clever boys with outstanding sense's of humor. To ban either or both would be a HUGE mistake. The revver site needs people like this to keep viewers coming back. Think MONEY folks. Think MONEY!!!
