Revver Maintains It's Still Cool, Despite Concerns
Some interesting quotes about the Revver/Turner/Comcast deal:
"The market for online user-generated video content is growing exponentially," said David Horowitz, Principal, Comcast Interactive Capital. "I haven't personally been to the Revver site on the world wide web but it's supposed to be very sticky and viral. Very clicks and bricks. Very Web 2.0."
"Television entertainment is becoming more and more multi-dimensional, and Turner is scared like hell," said Greg Foster, VP of Corporate Development at Turner. "For less than half my administrator's salary we can ensure that Revver stays exactly where we need it to stay."
"Despite our new "old media" friends, Revver remains as cool as ever," defended Steven Starr, founder and chief executive officer of Revver. "Comcast and Turner are big names and they may suck away our will to live, but they provide us enough cash to stay above the water when the Titanic YouTube sucks everyone else deep into the ocean.
(I'm just kidding... this is good for Revver and online video. It legitimizes the model, ensures the sustainability, and puts Revver in the undesputed #1 position. Let's hope they spend some of that cash on popularizing the site).
